ABSTRACT
Respiratory emergencies represent a spectrum of cardiopulmonary conditions that are commonly encountered in the emergency room and intensive care unit (ICU) settings. Due to the tremendous overlap of conditions between the emergency room and the ICU, this chapter will focus primarily on adult respiratory emergencies in the ICU.
