ABSTRACT
In the tenth edition of the International classification of diseases (ICD-10) diagnosis of insomnia requires the presence of the following key features:
• difficulty in falling asleep or maintaining sleep, or poor quality of sleep;
• the sleep disturbance has occurred at least three times per week for at least a month;
• preoccupation with the sleeplessness and excessive concern over the consequences of insomnia;
• unsatisfactory quantity and/or quality of sleep either causes marked distress or interferes with ordinary activities.1
