INDICATIONS FOR NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT Nutritional support should be considered for all malnourished patients. Malnourished patients are defined by NICE as those with: • a BMI of less than18.5 kg/m2
• an unintentional weight loss greater than 10% within the last 3-6 months
• a BMI less than 20 kg/m2 and unintentional weight loss greater than 5% within the last 3-6 months.
