ABSTRACT
The term angiodysplasia may be defined as ectasia of the normal pre-existing colonic submucosal
veins with or without ectasia of overlying mucosal capillaries (Boley et al., 1977). It is this variability in the presence of a mucosal abnormality that presents the problem in biopsy diagnosis.
