ABSTRACT
Intrinsic vascular disease or extrinsic vascular compression can cause obstruction of the extra-or intrahepatic portal or hepatic venous systems. Ultrasound is used to assess vascular changes that result from portal hypertension, plan for interventional treatment, and perform surveillance after intervention.
