ABSTRACT
A 69-year-old male patient on the cardiac ward collapses. He has no pulse and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is initiated. ECG shows ventricular fibrillation. His condition deteriorates as he shows asystole after 10 minutes of resuscitation. An arterial blood gas sample is taken during resuscitation while the patient is being ventilated with a bag and mask.
