ABSTRACT
Postpartum haemorrhage is a recognised complication of placenta praevia. Anticipation of this complication is essential in reducing morbidity and mortality. The most likely source of the haemorrhage in such patients is the placental bed in the lower segment. The haemorrhage may be recognised at the time of surgery or immediately after.
