ABSTRACT
Abdominal incisions for gynaecological surgery are, to a large extent, determined by the type of operation. The fundamental principles governing the type of incisions used are adequate surgical exposure and cosmetic acceptability. Whether surgery is laparoscopic or laparotomy also influences the type of abdominal incisions; therefore they may vary from small to large.
