ABSTRACT

Network economics is only a small part of research into networks. It deals mainly with the statics and dynamics of networks in which the main characteristics of nodes relate to stocks (capital, materials, people, and biomass) and the main characteristics of links relate to flows (exchanges, migration, and predation). As discussed in the introduction the emphasis on structure, the underlying topology, and the arrangement of entities (in terms of nodes and links) makes it a part of network theory, and not simply an extension of system dynamics.
