ABSTRACT
Development of reaction environments that furnish both reactivity and stability is one of the most important topics of organic chemistry. Resolution of this difcult conundrum is attained routinely in nature. In the active sites of enzymes, reactive species that are very unstable in articial systems are sometimes stabilized and play important roles in chemical transformations with extraordinarily high activity.
