ABSTRACT

Tables 2.1-2.6 are intended to provide a summary of expected physiological changes that are found in normal pregnancy.1 It is important to keep these changes in mind when evaluating a pregnant women’s review of systems, physical examination findings, and laboratory values. Findings which might indicate a diseased state in the nonpregnant female or male patient may reflect normal adaptations in pregnancy, and conversely, failure of these adaptations may represent pathology in the pregnant

patient. Expected changes reported are averages, at times with wide variations.
