ABSTRACT
Anemia is a frequent complication of cancer. It may be caused by a variety of mechanisms that are unrelated or only indirectly related to the underlying neoplastic disease, such as blood loss, iron and vitamin deficiencies, infec tious complications, hypersplenism, or endocrine disturbances. Clonal disor ders of hematopoiesis are often associated with anemia (Table 1).
