ABSTRACT
In Chapters 2 and 4 the mode shape that was forced as the beam or column was a fourth-order polynomial. The natural question that arises is this: can these structures possess eigenfunctions that are represented by polynomials of degree greater than four? The reply to this question is shown to be in the affirmative, if some conditions are met.
