ABSTRACT

Approximately one out of 17 people will develop colorectal cancer in their life time. In the United States, colorectal cancer accounts for an incidence of 149,000 cases and over 55,000 death in 2006 (1). About 50% to 60% of all patients with colorectal cancer develop distant disease with the liver as the first and most common site of metastasis. In a third of the cases, all metastases are confined to the liver.
