ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION This chapter addresses validation aspects of a planned manufacturing resource planning (MRPII versus MRP, which started as materials requirements planning) and manufacturing execution system (MES) integration project. We will use MRP to include both MRPII and MRP system functionalities. It should be noted that the overall project plan should include the validation activities described. Validation should not be treated as an activity separate from the project. This approach ensures that the system is designed properly, operates properly, and may be maintained properly. It also ensures that the cost of validation, both in time and money, does not negatively impact the project schedule.
