Metabolism notwithstanding, and depending on its physicochemical properties, the chemical either circulates or is then distributed to and sequestered in various organs. Finally, the substance is eliminated either actively or passively through the extensive filtration processes of the kidney. Alternatively, the chemical is selectively eliminated through the lungs, skin, or intestinal tract.
