ABSTRACT

This book presented a number of new technologies for network and computer security. We intentionally concentrated on the security problems that have not been sufficiently addressed to date. Of particular interest were security aspects of new, emerging, “disruptive” technologies. The disruptive technologies presented were:

• Mobile code • Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks • Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) • Complex adaptive systems

Advances in all of these realms contribute to creating a more distributed, adaptive infrastructure. Research has dealt primarily with the negative security aspects of these technologies. As we have shown, positive security aspects exist as well.
