ABSTRACT

Introduction Kock devised the first continent ileostomy reservoir for proctocolectomized patients in 1969. It was used first in 1975 for continent cutaneous urinary diversion.1 Since that time, several surgical procedures for continent cutaneous diversion have been developed using different bowel segments for reservoir construction. Numerous modifications of reservoir construction have been established as well as surgical techniques for ureteral implantation and for construction of a continence mechanism.
