ABSTRACT

The infection of crops by plant pathogenic fungi impairs both quality and quantity causing huge economic losses to farmers as well as immense effects on human and animal health. This implies that fungal colonization may affect seed size, weight, seed germination rate, protein and carbohydrate contents, baking, and other quality parameters. In addition to these impairments, the most serious consequence of fungal colonization is contamination of agricultural products with mycotoxins.
