ABSTRACT

Guava is an important fruit crop in the tropics and subtropics. Mature green or ripe fruits are consumed fresh and used in preparation of products such as juices, pastes, jams, jellies, and pies. Fruits are rich in pectin and vi tamin C, and red-fleshed cultivars are high in carotene content. Leaves and barks contain a large amount of tannin and are used in the dyeing and tan ning industry. Leaves have medicinal properties and are used in controlling diarrhea and stomach ailments.
