ABSTRACT

Phalsa is a bushy deciduous tree growing up to 10 m in height. Flowers are perfect; sepals number four to five; petals number four to five; stamens number 70 to 80; there is one pistil. Fruit is round, drupe, red or purple in color, and contains one to two seeds. Seeds are used for propagation. Fruits are harvested when color changes to reddish brown. Seeds are extracted from ripe fruits, washed, dried, and suitably packed for storage.
