ABSTRACT
Lettuce is a popular salad crop in temperate regions. It is a cool-season vegetable crop exclusively cultivated for its edible leaves. It is also grown to a lesser extent and on a smaller scale in the subtropics, where it is cooked as a vegetable. It is rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and iron and vitamins A and C.
