ABSTRACT
In this section, the metabolic engineer will become acquainted with the molecular machine that drives transcription (RNA polymerase (RNAP)); the steps of the transcription initiation pathway; promoter architecture; “hard-wired” and “adaptive” regulation; proximal signaling processes; simple and complex regulatory mechanisms; and the roles of nucleoid proteins.
