ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the plastic theory of reinforced concrete beams is treated. Emphasis is laid on shear and torsion problems. Pure bending is described only briey, since the solution to this problem is treated extensively by other methods in the literature [65.12] and in design codes. In the majority of this chapter, concrete is identied as a modied Coulomb material with tensile strength equal to zero.
