ABSTRACT
Concept of smart materials The smart material (SM) differs from common material the components of its structure function as the cybernetic system efficiently adapting the material to the varying operation conditions. Humanity has gone a long way from using the materials prepared by nature to creating the SM. The notions of materials science are formulated below preceding the SM definition, supplementing this term as well as the cybernetic notions used to describe the SM. The energy characteristics of external influence are given which the technological materials experience in operation. The energy of this influence is used by the SM to ‘repair’ the operation damage.
