10.1 Introduction A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a newer technology that is being used to perform monitoring and surveillance tasks. The current development and evolution of electronic devices has risen to the point of amalgamation, providing an enriching capacity for the processing, sensing, and storing of data, compared to previous decades. The twenty-first century has observed rapid developments in sensor technology over the past 20 years. There are numerous applications of WSN, such as military battlefield surveillance and medical applications. In medical applications, WSN nodes can collect information about an individual’s health, fitness, and energy expenditure. In the field of computer science and communication, WSNs have emerged and revolutionized many technologies. On the other side, the development of digital electronics has reached a point of integration that provides high capacity, storage, and data communication for sensor nodes, compared to previous decades [1].
