Introduction Project plans are not very useful if no one follows them. Successful project managers establish ways to ensure that their projects proceed according to plans.
Status collection and assessment are two ways to encourage that project plans are followed. These methods involve collecting data about progress on key activities and other factors and then assessing the impact of performance on the entire project. Project managers often look for and then determine the significance of variances to schedule and budget.
