ABSTRACT

The particle size of microparticles influences the uptake into antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as macrophages and dendritic cells. Deionized water was used to make microparticle suspension and sonicated for 1 min to ensure particles lump disintegration. Spectrex particle size counter was used to measure the particle size in the suspension. The sizes of the microparticles ranged from 1 to 5 µm.Another critical physical property for a microparticle is the zeta potential. Zeta potential was measured using Malvern Zetasizer [17]. Zeta potential measures the MP’s ability to remain dispersed in aqueous medium without aggregation. The zeta potential of microparticles were measured in water was found to be – 26.5 ± 2.09 mV.
