ABSTRACT
Compound muscle-skin flaps should, by derivation, be termed ‘musculocutaneous’ (L. musculus, L. cutis) flaps. The term ‘myocutaneous’ (Gr. mys, L. cutis) is used for the sake of brevity. Editorial Note [from journal author]: Editors are notoriously reluctant to admit a new hybrid word to their pages.
