ABSTRACT

In yarn manufacturing, two immediate prerequisites to success are high productivity and high quality. In the previous century, the manufacture of staple yarns was driven by the motive to achieve the desired tensile properties and esthetics at a reasonable cost. Globalization is creating a growing level of interconnectedness and competition in the world economy, and geographical clustering of activity is an important way in which firms and localities deal with these pressures. As a result, extraordinary changes are taking place in the world of textiles. Automation and online monitoring are among the three advances improving quality and productivity in short staple spinning.
