Tooth Profile Measuring System [3,4] In 1968, the authors read a paper on a new involute tooth profile measuring sys tem, which was the first success in excluding an involute generating mechanism in the world, at an academic annual meeting sponsored by Japan Society o f Precision Engineers. 1968 was the epoch-making year in the history o f gear measuring tech nique in Japan, because information processing based on digital electronic tech nique had been substituted for mechanical information generating.
