ABSTRACT

Artificial neural networks (ANN) are a functional abstraction of the

biological neural structures of the central nervous system

(Aleksander and Morton, 1993; Rudomin et al, 1993; Arbib, 1995;

Anderson, 1995; Bishop, 1995). They are powerful pattern

recognizers and classifiers. They operate as black box, model-free,

and adaptive tools to capture and learn significant structures in data.
