ABSTRACT

Depending on the operation and maintenance of nitrogen fertilizer plants, nitrogen loss is estimated at 0.5 to 1.0% in well-operated modem plants and at 3 to 4% in older plants [1]. The waste effluents from the industry can be classified into four groups [2]:

1. General manufacturing effluents resulting from the contact of water with gas, liquids, or solids. Generally, these effluents are continuous and are known as pollutant contributors.
