ABSTRACT
According to Leflaive [170], the consultants will not include geotextiles in their de signs unless they have reliable technical data and design methodology for these materials. Similarly, Koemer [171] has suggested that the selection of woven or nonwoven geotextile should be realised by the “design by function” route so that the properties of geotextiles are specified. Hence, some of the important design methods for different functions of geotextiles are discussed below.
