Abstract.Electrostaticsensingtechnologyinconjunctionwithadvancedsignal processingtechniquesoffersapromisingsolutiontothein-linecontinuous measurementofthemassflowrateofpneumaticallyconveyedsolids.Thispaper describesthefundamentalprinciple,advantagesandlimitationsofthetechnology andexaminestheeffectsofvariationsinsolidsvelocity,particlesizeandmaterial typeonthemeasurementofmassconcentrationofsolids.Keyaspectsofthe optimumdesignofelectrostaticsensorsandassociatedsignalprocessingelements arediscussed.
