Pulsed streamer discharge in water through a pin hole of insulating plate

Waterwasfedtothereactorwiththefollowingmanner:(a)nowaterflowing(no pumping);(b)waterflowingintotherightsidereactor,andthroughthepinhole,thenoutfrom theleftreactor(inthecaseofthefigure);(c)waterflowingintotherightsidereactor,andout fromtherighthandside(i.e.,reactionsoccurseparately),andviceversa.;(d)waterflowingin andoutbothreactorssimultaneously

Aqueousphenolsolutionwasusedforthesampleliquid,andwasanalyzedbyhigh performanceliquidchromatography(LC-9A,Shimadzu)withthecolumnpackedwith polymethacrylategel(RSpak,Shodex-ShowaDenko).Thehighvoltagepositivepulse (controlledfrom0to25kVand10to50Hz)wasused.Thepulseformingcapacitorwas 6,000pF.Thedischargelightwasrecordedusingvideocameraandrecorder,andthe streamerlengthwasdeterminedbyaveragingthelongeststreamersthatappearedinaperiodof fivesecondsonTVmonitor.
