ABSTRACT
Abstract.Underuniformelectricfield,thepropagationofasinglestreameralong insulatingsurfaceswasstudied.Thedynamicsofstreamergrowthwereinvestigatedas influencedbytheamplitudeofthevoltage,andthereforeenergy,usedforinitiationand thenatureoftheinsulatingmaterial;inthiscasefibreglassandresin.Itisshownthat thestablepropagationofthestreamercanbedescribedintermsofanintrinsic propagationfieldtogetherwithanassociatedvelocity.Thesepropertiesare characteristicofthemediumemployedandwereusedtoformulatetherelationbetween thepropagationvelocityandelectricfield.Alonganinsulatingsurfaceastreamer systempropagateswithasurfaceandanaircomponent.
