ABSTRACT
Afterthis,DCandACvoltageswereapplied,andthequantityofwaterextractedwas measured.InthecaseoftheACvoltage,noextractioncouldbeobservedatall,aresult thatcanbeunderstoodinlightoftheHelmholtz-Smoluchowskiequation.Inthecaseofthe DCvoltage,theextractionperformancewasfoundtoincreasewithanincreaseinthe voltageapplied.TheresultsareshowninFig.2.Inthesetests,thegridelectrodewasnot yetinplace5o30,-....--,---.r-..,.---r---r-Tl

Inasecondseriesoftests,avoltageoftriangularwave-formwasintroducedbetweenthe electrodes,andavaryingoffsetvoltageof0""'2.5Vwasalsoapplied.Inthesetests,too, thegridelectrodewasnotused.TheresultsaregiveninFig.3.Acomparisonoftheresults showsthattheextractionperformanceobtainedfromtheoffsettriangular-wavevoltageis superiortothatobtainedfromthesimpledirectvoltage.Wherenooffsetvoltagewas added,nowaterextractioneffectcouldbeobserved.
