Abstract - Improved design capability for non-contacting electrostatic voltmeter probes will require accurate dynamic models for piewelectrically-actuated cantilevered beams. In this paper, .we describe a simple, multiple-degree-offreedom model for a cantilevered beam driven by a surface-mounted piewtransducer. The model allows one to determine the optimum position for maximized actuation of different beam vibration modes. Measurements performed with transducers mounted at different beam locations provide reasonable verification of the model.
