I. TOXICOLOGY A. Introduction Millions of consumers come into contact with numerous kinds of cosmetics and dishwashing agents every day. Due to steadily tightened legal demands and a growing consciousness of consumers and distributors of toxicological and dermatological effects, producers take strengthened care of testing their (raw) products systematically before launching them into the market. Therefore, it could be observed in the past that the selection of surfactants being used was increasingly influenced by toxicological, ecotoxicological, and dermatological properties.
