ABSTRACT
The 3-year practice in Sunqiao exemplifies the results obtained with foreign modern greenhouse culture in Shanghai. Under the supervision of foreign experts, the total yield and sales income in Sunqiao in the first year were 657.46 t and 3.07 million yuan, with mixed average yield 21.91 kg per square metre and average sales income 68.1 thousand yuan per mu. In the second year the yield was 554.54 t and sales income 3521.8 thousand yuan. In the third year the total yield and sales income were 762.53 t and 4501.7 thousand yuan respectively, with average yield 25.42 kg per square metre and average sales income 100 thousand yuan per mu. After deducting depreciation charges of 1 million yuan, Sunqiao had a surplus of more than 400 thousand yuan.
