ABSTRACT

When vegetable cultures are cultivated in containers of small volume, the plant roots are placed in a special substratum, into which nutrient materials are delivered in a dissolved form through a drop bottle. Naturally, such cultivation technology requires a substratum of high quality: the ratio of firm, fluid and gaseous components should be stable throughout the vegetative period. Good aeration of the roots and sufficient quantity of moisture are also required. The acidity value of the substratum should be within the limits 6.2-65 and salt content should not exceed 3 g L_1 in the dry residue or 4 mS with respect to electrical conductivity.
