ABSTRACT

A variety of analytical methods are available for fatty acid analysis, e.g. gas-liquld chromatography, infrared spectrophotometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance (Morris & Culkin, 1976). The lipid compositions of marine organisms are well known (Sargent, 1976; Sargent & Whittle, 1981), and many analyses of fatty acid composition have been published (Ackman & Burgher, 1964; Ackman, 1980).
