ABSTRACT
Gas storage too has a long history, evident from the many town gas holders once part of the city landscape. As the gases were poisonous, part of the problem of storage was associated with safe seals. Gas escapes also had to be easily detectable — easy when coal derived gas had a smell but elsewhere achieved through additives.
