ABSTRACT
For best control of dust emission, silo designs with a light overall roof covering an operating deck above the stored material are most effective. Minor releases of dust under abnormal conditions by the overpressure relief valve mounted on the operating deck can thus be contained and cleared up with minimal effect on the neighbourhood. Also, the problems off maintaining effective weather tightness are minimised by having no penetrations through the roof.
