ABSTRACT

Abstract This study was conducted to offer a new rheological test method for consolidation-free flowing concrete (CFF concrete). This concrete is characterized as high fluidity, non segregation and self-levelling in the fresh state. Rheological properties o f paste and mortar composed in CFF concrete were tested by using a viscometer. Furthermore, the rheology o f the concrete was measured by using a coaxial cylindrical viscometer. In the next step, a spiral-flow twin-shaft mixer fitted with a rotating speed controller and the electric power of the mixing motor, connected to a measuring system, was used to obtain the relationship between mixing power and rotating shaft speed. The results o f mixer tests indicated that the rheological quantities could be obtained. Test results indicated that the CFF concrete has a small yield value and higher viscosity than normal concrete. The measurement o f rheology using the proposed mixer test is a useful method of controlling the workability of CFF concrete.
