ABSTRACT

Abstract Cracks, gaping joints and the so-called alligator cracking skin of bituminous layers have always been of concern to the roads engineer. In this paper the development of an asphalt reinforcement is shown by means of personal practical experience of the author with different extensive test sections -beginning in 1976-and with the most different materials. Summarizing conclusions for the practice and principles for the installation, which have been worked out during the years, are given. Keywords: Large-scale projects, Non-wovens, Orientated geogrids, Woven geogrids.
