ABSTRACT

In the preceding chapter we proved that hyperfinite adapted spaces have two key properties: universality and homogeneity The paper Hoover and Keisler [1984] introduced and studied the weaker notion of a saturated adapted space. The saturated adapted spaces include the hyperfinite adapted spaces and the more general class of Loeb adapted spaces built using nonstandard analysis (see the discussion following Definition 2A.2). Another construction of saturated adapted spaces which is more difficult but avoids nonstandard analysis will be given in Chapter 6.
