Other possible methods of controlling or preventing corrosion, but which may be economic only for the shorter lines, are cathodic protection and the use of coatings or linings. The main advantage of rubber and polyurethane linings is that they are also abrasion-resistant (see section 4.1), whereas the thinner coatings and paints tend to give corrosion protection only (1,7).
