ABSTRACT
Classically, bioremediation has been thought to be especially applicable to the biotransformation of organic compounds. When biologically mediated degradation (biodegradation) results in essentially complete conversion to simple products, such as carbon dioxide and water, the biotransformation is termed mineralization.
